  ARIELLE BRISTOW-CANFIELD, JANUARY
Her father Rob says this photo of our grand-daughter Ari in the Kimono was taken for her shichi go san, a Japanese tradition in which children receive a blessing during their 3rd year. With the arrival of cameras the tradition included taking a picture in traditional Japanese attire, for girls the obi and kimono.
  AIDAN KARL CANFIELD, JULY
John and Karin's son Aidan is normally a taciturn fellow, focussing his attention on the work at hand ... you know what that is. In this picture he reveals his true sunny personality.
  DEB AND THE TROPHY, JULY
Deb and the "Volley Girls" triumphed in a tournament in Idaho Falls. The trophy is just one of the rewards of their success.
  MONTANA DEER, AUGUST
This awesome picture was taken in the Bitterroot National Forest in Montana on August 6, 2000 by a fire behavior analyst from Fairbanks, Alaska by the name of John McColgan with a Digital camera. Since he was working while he took the picture, he cannot sell or profit from it so he should at least be recognized as the photographer of this once in a lifetime shot. Smoke from all the fires accounts for the haze in the Glacier National Park pictures which follow.
  GLACIER NATIONAL PARK, AUGUST
Before we set out on our first hike in this spectacular park, who should we meet but George Ostrom, author of "Wondrous Wildlife : A Different Look" and "Glacier's Secrets : Above the Clouds & Beyond the Trails." His books are really fun -- check out them out at your your favorite book site!

On the Highline trail. What do you do when you are going one way, a goat is going the other, and it's 2000 feet down on one side and up on the other? Photo credit Susan Canfield.
  GLACIER NATIONAL PARK, AUGUST
On the Highline trail. Answer to the previous question -- you let the goat pass between you and the precipice! Photo credit Susan Canfield.

  BROOKE AND DICK, BOZEMAN, DECEMBER
The wind had blown long and hard, making the snow conditions ideal for the construction of an igloo for Brooke.
