Dear Family and Friends,

This year we devoted our three months of Òretirement practiceÓ to travel and friends and family from Hawaii to the East Coast. We drove, hiked or biked the mountain and coastal West from Washington to Oregon and the redwoods.

DebÕs year was again less about tennis, and more about community service (the Eagle Mount swimming program for challenged children and adults), travel, grandkids, and quilts. She and Chelsea traveled to Hawaii to see Rob & KimiÕs girls Arielle and Maia; their Dad has gotten a great new job as a nurse practioner for the City and County of Honolulu; Maia will start school in the Fall.

Chelsea continued to make a big contribution to the cost of her education by waiting tables at a local restaurant over the summer, as well as weekends during the school year. She did a valuable internship at the local hospital this summer, and has just finished the third semester of the two-year MSU clinical nursing program, Her studies this year were devoted to pediatric, maternal, and psychiatric nursing. Beaches and a beau are luring her to Southern California after she graduates in May.

Our campervan made it possible to zip down to New Mexico to see John and KarinÕs boys Aidan (who finished his first year in school) and Mark. All three Massachusetts Canfield boys are getting every more lively each day, thanks to KarinÕs guidance. Finally, we flew out to Annapolis to see DickÕs Mom (who will be 98 next month!) and sister Sue. Paige and her daughter Esther joined us. The last year has been good to Paige and Tim; Tim joined two partners to build very high-end furniture sold out of a gallery in New York City, and Paige (now able to be a stay-at-home Mom, to her great delight) started a picture framing business
